Export Growth! Russia Opens Its $3 Billion Seafood Market to Pakistan

Pakistan has secured access to a $3 billion seafood import market in Russia after 16 local seafood processing plants were approved for exports. This is being seen as a major achievement for Pakistan’s fisheries sector.

Officials said the approval will allow Pakistani companies to export a variety of seafood products to Russia, creating new business opportunities for exporters and strengthening trade relations between the two countries.

Currently, Pakistan’s seafood exports are around $500 million annually. With this new market access, exports are expected to grow significantly and may reach close to $800 million in the coming years. In the early phase, Russia alone is expected to contribute nearly $300 million to Pakistan’s seafood exports.

Experts believe this development will help Pakistan reduce its dependence on traditional export markets and expand its presence in new regions. It also reflects growing confidence in the quality and standards of Pakistani seafood products.

Officials added that the fisheries sector will benefit from increased production, better processing facilities, and higher demand from international buyers. This could also create more job opportunities and support economic growth.

The move is part of broader efforts to improve Pakistan’s export performance and explore new global markets. Authorities are optimistic that continued focus on quality, compliance, and international standards will help sustain this growth.
