Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of the province’s first women-focused food street in Muzaffargarh.
The new food street will transform an unused public space into a lively commercial hub where women can run their own businesses. The initiative aims to empower women, especially widows, single mothers, and female entrepreneurs, by giving them priority in getting stalls.
This project is designed to create new income opportunities for women who often face difficulties in starting small businesses. To support them, the government is providing free carts, rent-free kiosks, free electricity, and dedicated parking spaces. These facilities will greatly reduce the cost of running a stall and help more women take part.
The food street is expected to become a popular spot for families and visitors, offering a safe and comfortable environment for women vendors. It will not only help local women earn a respectable living but also promote women’s participation in the local economy.
This is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to support women and create better opportunities for them across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has often stressed the importance of women’s economic empowerment.
People in Muzaffargarh have welcomed the announcement, calling it a positive step towards giving women more respect and financial independence. Work on the project is expected to begin soon.
