Pakistan’s freelance sector is growing at a fast pace, with strong earnings reported in the current fiscal year. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, freelancers in the country earned around $856 million from computer and IT services during the first nine months of FY2025–26. This marks an increase of over 50% compared to the same period last year.
The rise of $289 million shows that global demand for Pakistani freelancers is increasing. Many professionals are offering services like web development, graphic design, content writing, and digital marketing to clients worldwide. Platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr have played a key role in connecting Pakistani talent with international markets.
Experts believe this growth is supported by better internet access, digital skills training, and a young workforce eager to work online. Government initiatives and private training programs are also helping more people enter the freelance market.
Pakistan is already ranked among the top freelance markets globally, and this steady increase in earnings reflects the sector’s strong potential.
If the trend continues, freelancing could become a major source of foreign exchange for the country in the coming years.
