SadaPay customers in Pakistan are receiving pleasant surprises in their accounts these days. Many users are receiving refunds for withholding taxes deducted from their international transactions over the past 2 to 3 years. The money is being credited directly into their SadaPay accounts without any request from the users.
The refunds are related to withholding tax (WHT) charged on overseas payments made using SadaPay cards between 2022 and early 2024. Users have reported receiving amounts ranging from a few thousand rupees to over one lakh rupees.
Some people shared screenshots on social media showing credits labelled as “WHT Refund”. Many expressed happiness and surprise at getting back money they had already paid as tax.
According to reports, the government has decided to return these withholding taxes on international transactions from that period. SadaPay is automatically processing and crediting the refunds to eligible customers. Users do not need to submit any forms or contact customer support for this.
This development has created a buzz on social media platforms. While SadaPay has not officially announced the exact eligibility criteria and total refund amounts in detail, it appears to cover international card transactions from the past years. The refunds are based on the user’s tax filer status at the time of the transaction.
SadaPay, a popular digital wallet and card service in Pakistan, charges withholding tax on foreign transactions as required by government rules. Earlier, the rate was higher for non-filers.
This surprise refund has brought relief to long-time users who frequently make international payments for shopping, subscriptions, or travel.
