Murree on High Alert: Section 144 Imposed to Ban Rallies and Gatherings

Authorities in Murree have put the area on high alert and enforced Section 144 to maintain law and order. Under this rule, all rallies, protests, and public gatherings have been temporarily banned until May 5.

Officials said that groups of more than four people are not allowed to gather in public places during this period. Strict action will be taken against anyone who violates these restrictions. The decision has been taken as a precaution to avoid any disturbance and ensure public safety.

Along with the ban, a detailed security plan has been implemented across the city. Law enforcement personnel have been deployed at key locations, and monitoring has been increased.

Special traffic arrangements have also been introduced to manage the flow of tourists, as Murree continues to receive a large number of visitors.

Authorities have asked citizens and tourists to follow the rules and cooperate with security teams to help maintain a peaceful environment.

At the same time, a separate issue has added to regional tensions. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has raised a demand of Rs64.62 billion from Punjab. Officials claim that this amount is related to the use of water resources from the Galiyat region for Murree since 1947 without proper authorization.

This matter has brought attention to long-standing concerns over resource sharing between provinces. Discussions on the issue are expected as both sides review the claims.
