The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has suggested that Eidul Adha in Pakistan is expected to be observed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, based on detailed scientific assessments of moon visibility. These projections are grounded in astronomical calculations that analyze the birth of the moon, its age, and the likelihood of it being sighted across different parts of the country.
According to Secretary General Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the moon for Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH is anticipated to be born between the night of May 16 and May 17. By the evening of May 17, conditions are expected to be favorable for sighting the crescent, particularly in cities such as Karachi and Peshawar, where visibility factors like altitude and illumination are considered optimal. If the moon is successfully sighted on that evening, May 18 will mark the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, leading to Eidul Adha being celebrated on May 27. However, if the crescent is not visible, the start of the Islamic month may be delayed by a day, which would shift Eid celebrations to May 28 instead.
