Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced the extension of the Rs100 per litre petrol subsidy for motorcycle owners. The popular relief programme will now continue until May 31, 2026.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi. The Sindh government has approved the release of Rs2 billion for the month of May to support this scheme. This subsidy is equal to Rs2,000 per motorcycle per month (for up to 20 litres of petrol).
So far, more than 548,000 motorcycle owners across Sindh are benefiting from the programme. The government has already disbursed over Rs1.096 billion in direct cash transfers to eligible beneficiaries. The subsidy is transferred directly to their bank accounts.
This extension comes as petrol prices continue to rise after the latest increase announced by the federal Petroleum Division. The scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on daily commuters, delivery riders, and low-income families who depend heavily on motorcycles for travel and earning their livelihood.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the provincial government is committed to supporting common people during difficult economic times. Officials urged eligible motorcycle owners to register through the official portal if they have not yet done so.
