The major redevelopment project at Kutchery Chowk in Rawalpindi is almost finished, with around 92% of the work completed. Authorities expect the road to be fully open for traffic by May 31, bringing relief to daily commuters in the area.
Officials from the Punjab Communication and Works Department have shared that most of the key structures are nearly ready. These include flyovers, underpasses, pedestrian bridges, and a proper drainage system. Final touches and finishing work are currently in progress.
The project is being carried out by the Frontier Works Organisation. Once completed, it is expected to improve traffic flow for more than 250,000 vehicles that pass through this busy area every day. The development aims to reduce congestion and make travel smoother and faster for the public.
In addition to this project, authorities have also planned further improvements in the city. Work on new underpasses along Peshawar Road, estimated to cost around Rs8 billion, will begin after the Kutchery Chowk project is completed.
Officials believe that these developments will bring long-term benefits by improving road conditions and reducing traffic problems. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to support better urban planning and make daily travel easier for residents.
