Pakistan Railways Plans Upgraded & Improved Awam Express Before Eid

Pakistan Railways has announced the launch of an upgraded version of the Awam Express ahead of Eid ul Adha, aiming to improve travel facilities and passenger comfort across the country.

According to Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, the train is being modernized with improved services and better onboard facilities. The upgraded Awam Express is expected to officially begin operations on May 24.

Officials said the improvements are designed to provide passengers with a more comfortable, safer, and efficient travel experience. The train mainly operates on the route connecting Karachi and Peshawar, one of the country’s major railway corridors used by thousands of travelers.

The timing of the launch is considered important as passenger movement usually increases before Eid holidays. Authorities believe the upgraded service will help manage higher travel demand while improving overall journey quality.

The railway ministry said the project is part of broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s transportation system and improve public rail services nationwide. The government is focusing on better infrastructure, improved facilities, and enhanced connectivity to attract more passengers toward rail travel.

Officials also indicated that additional premium train services may be introduced from major cities in the future as part of ongoing railway reforms. These initiatives aim to raise travel standards and strengthen the role of railways in national transportation.

Transport experts believe improvements in railway services can reduce pressure on road networks, offer affordable travel options, and support economic activity through stronger connectivity between regions.

The latest upgrade reflects continued efforts to improve passenger experience and rebuild confidence in public transport services across Pakistan.
