Islamabad Again Blocked! Multiple Entry Points Sealed by Islamabad Police

Islamabad was placed under a strict security lockdown on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as multiple entry and exit points of the capital were sealed by the police ahead of a major PTI rally.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers have blocked key routes, including the Islamabad Expressway, the GT Road, Margalla Road, and several entry points from Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Murree. Long traffic jams were reported across the city as commuters faced severe difficulties entering or leaving the capital.

The restrictions have been imposed due to security concerns ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s planned rally in Islamabad today. Authorities fear large crowds and possible clashes; they have taken preventive measures to maintain law and order.

According to officials, containers and heavy barriers have been placed at sensitive points. Police have also restricted movement around important government buildings and the Red Zone area. Citizens, especially office workers and students, have expressed frustration over the repeated sealing of the city.

The Islamabad Police has appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel and use alternate routes. The restrictions are expected to remain in place until the rally concludes and the situation becomes normal.
