Pakistan has officially announced public holidays from May 26 to May 28, 2026, for Eid-ul-Adha after the sighting of the Dhu Al-Hijjah moon. The announcement was confirmed by the Cabinet Division following the decision of the central moon-sighting committee.
According to officials, Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on May 27 this year. The three-day holiday period is expected to bring increased travel activity as people move to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with their families.
Markets and transport services are also expected to see higher activity as citizens prepare for animal sacrifices and other Eid-related arrangements. Businesses related to food, livestock, and retail are likely to experience increased demand during this period.
The government has urged citizens to plan their travel in advance to avoid overcrowding on roads and in public transport. Security and administrative arrangements are also expected to be strengthened in major cities to manage public gatherings and Eid celebrations.
Meanwhile, preparations for Hajj are also progressing in Saudi Arabia. Pakistan’s Religious Affairs Minister recently visited key locations in Arafat and Mina to review facilities for Pakistani pilgrims.
During the visit, he inspected accommodation, food arrangements, and other services being provided to ensure comfort and safety for pilgrims performing the holy journey. Officials assured that better facilities will be available this year compared to previous arrangements.
