Saad Edhi, grandson of the late legendary philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, has safely returned to Pakistan after being released from Israeli detention. He arrived at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi via Turkey, where he was warmly welcomed by his family members and well-wishers.
Saad was detained along with over 400 other humanitarian activists when Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. The flotilla was carrying aid supplies for Gaza. He spent several difficult days in custody, describing harsh conditions including sleep deprivation and mistreatment during his detention.
His father, Faisal Edhi, and other family members expressed huge relief and gratitude for his safe return. Supporters gathered at the airport to welcome him back home. Many people across Pakistan had raised their voices for his release through protests and social media campaigns.
The incident drew international attention and sparked discussions about humanitarian missions and the treatment of activists. Pakistani government officials, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, played an important role through diplomatic efforts that helped secure the release of Saad and other detainees.
Saad Edhi’s effort to deliver aid to Gaza has once again highlighted the family’s commitment to helping people in need.
