The Punjab government has deployed more than 40,000 security personnel across the province as part of comprehensive security arrangements for Eidul Azha, officials confirmed. The large-scale deployment aims to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and facilitate peaceful celebrations during the religious holiday.
According to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari and Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, authorities have finalized extensive operational plans covering major cities, towns, and rural areas across the province. Officials stated that nearly 30,000 mosques are expected to hold Eid congregations this year, prompting heightened security and monitoring measures at prayer venues and surrounding areas.
The provincial administration has directed all relevant departments, including police, district administrations, rescue services, sanitation teams, and traffic management authorities, to remain on high alert throughout the Eid holidays. Special security measures have been introduced around sensitive locations, crowded marketplaces, livestock markets, and major public gathering points to prevent any untoward incidents.
Authorities said surveillance and monitoring systems have been fully activated, with additional checkpoints, patrol units, and rapid response teams deployed in various districts. Traffic police have also been instructed to implement special traffic plans to manage congestion near mosques, markets, and busy commercial zones during Eid shopping and prayer timings.
In addition to security arrangements, the government has emphasized cleanliness and municipal services to ensure a smooth holiday experience for residents. Sanitation workers and waste management teams have been assigned to operate continuously during Eid days, particularly to handle animal waste disposal and maintain hygiene in urban and residential areas.
Officials further stated that emergency services, including rescue and medical response teams, will remain available around the clock to respond quickly to any incidents or public emergencies. The Punjab government said the coordinated efforts are aimed at ensuring citizens can celebrate Eidul Azha peacefully, safely, and without disruption across the province.
