Great Wall Motors (GWM) is preparing to introduce its first pickup truck in Pakistan. The Cannon Alpha, a powerful plug-in hybrid model, is scheduled to launch in June 2026. This move is part of the growing trend of hybrid and electric vehicles entering the Pakistani market.
The Cannon Alpha comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor. This setup delivers impressive combined power of up to 300 kW (around 402 horsepower) and 750 Nm of torque.
It runs on a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission with four-wheel drive. Drivers can enjoy up to 115 km of pure electric range on a single charge and a total driving range exceeding 1,000 km.
This pickup is designed for both tough work and comfortable daily use. It offers strong off-road ability, 3,500 kg towing capacity, and modern safety systems. Advanced driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera. Inside, buyers can expect luxury touches like large digital screens, panoramic sunroof, comfortable powered seats, and wireless connectivity.
The Cannon Alpha aims to attract customers looking for a stylish yet capable pickup with lower fuel costs. While official prices for Pakistan are still to be announced, experts believe it will bring fresh competition to the local daala (pickup) segment.
