Indonesia sent the largest group of pilgrims to Hajj 2026, with more than 220,000 Muslims traveling to Saudi Arabia. This makes Indonesia the top country in Hajj participation this year, ahead of Pakistan (around 180,000) and India (about 175,000).
As the country with the world’s biggest Muslim population (over 240 million), Indonesia received a quota of 221,000 pilgrims for 2026. This includes about 203,000 regular Hajj pilgrims and 18,000 special or fast-track pilgrims. The government carefully selected and prepared these pilgrims over many months.
This year’s Hajj saw nearly 1.7 million pilgrims from around the world. Saudi authorities reported it was successful with good organization and a few major problems. Indonesian pilgrims faced the usual challenges like heat, crowds, and long travel, but many described the journey as a life-changing spiritual experience.
Indonesia’s huge participation shows the deep faith of its people. Many save money for decades because of long waiting lists that can take 20 to 30 years in some provinces. The government worked hard to provide training, health checks, and support for safe travel.
This record group highlights Muslim unity and the growing scale of Hajj. Indonesia’s strong presence brings pride to its people and adds to the beautiful diversity of the global Muslim community.
