Sources have reported that Punjab Motor Registration Authority (PMRA) of Punjab’s excise and taxation department (ETD) has been charging excess of Rs. 360 million to motorists in transferring of vehicle annually which in real costs only Rs. 300, an ownership transfer deed which is must for transferring of authority which is only available at PMRA.
ETD spokesperson said while talking about this matter, that all the earnings from transferring of vehicles ownership does not go into anyone’s pocket but it goes into revolving funds and is invested into business projects which benefits the people at the end, they are deposited into state’s treasury.
