The Rs. 47 billion Rawalpindi Ring Road project has reached approximately 90 percent completion, bringing the long-awaited infrastructure development closer to becoming operational.
The project is considered one of the most important road networks in the region and is expected to significantly improve traffic flow around Rawalpindi.
According to officials, most of the asphalt paving work has already been completed. Construction teams are currently focused on the remaining sections of the road, along with safety-related installations and other finishing work required before the project can be opened to the public.
Authorities say steady progress has been made over recent months, allowing the project to move into its final phase. Once the remaining work is completed, inspections and testing will be carried out to ensure the road meets safety and operational standards.
The Ring Road is expected to reduce traffic congestion on major routes in and around Rawalpindi. By providing an alternative route for vehicles, the project aims to shorten travel times and ease pressure on busy urban roads.
Officials believe the new road will also support economic growth by improving transportation links between different areas. Better connectivity is expected to facilitate trade, logistics, and business activities while making travel more convenient for residents.
The project forms part of broader efforts to modernize transport infrastructure and accommodate growing traffic demands in the region. Urban planners have long viewed the Ring Road as a key solution to traffic challenges faced by Rawalpindi and nearby areas.
While a final opening date has not yet been announced, officials are optimistic that the remaining work will be completed soon. The road could become operational a few months after construction activities and safety checks are fully finished.
