9-Year-Old Loses Life After CCD Personnel Opens F!re Mistaking Family Car for Robbers in Chakwal

A tragic incident in Chakwal has shocked Pakistan. A nine-year-old Australian-Pakistani girl named Hania Ahmed was killed, and her father and brother were seriously injured when Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel opened fire on their car on Wednesday night, June 11, 2026.

The family had just returned to Pakistan after performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Australian national Adeel Ahmed, 39, his wife Dr Sidra Khan, son Aafan (around 11 years old), and daughter Hania were coming back from a family dinner at a relative’s house around 11:40 pm.

According to police, motorcycle-borne robbers had just snatched cash and jewellery from their vehicle near the CCD police station. As the family tried to drive away in panic, CCD officials mistook their car for the robbers’ vehicle and fired heavily. The car had over 60 bullet holes. Hania died on the spot, while her father and brother needed surgery. Dr Sidra remained unhurt.

One CCD constable has been arrested. Senior police officers visited the family and promised a thorough investigation. A joint investigation team has been formed. The incident has raised serious questions about police procedures and the use of force in such situations.

The Pakistani-Australian community in Perth is in mourning. This heartbreaking event highlights the need for better training and caution by law enforcement to prevent such mistakes.
