Tax Officials Crack Down on “Double Shot” for Suspected Sales Misreporting

Tax authorities in Lahore have taken strict action against several outlets of the popular coffee chain Double Shot after uncovering alleged violations of tax regulations. Officials stated that the branches were sealed following inspections that reportedly found serious irregularities, including under-reporting of sales and failure to properly integrate with the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS).

According to the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), the inspections revealed significant discrepancies between the revenue generated by the outlets and the amounts officially declared for taxation. Authorities suspect that a portion of the taxable turnover was deliberately concealed, prompting immediate enforcement measures. As a result, multiple branches located in key commercial areas such as Gulberg, DHA, Model Town, and other parts of Lahore were ordered shut until the matter is resolved.

The founder of Double Shot acknowledged the closures and said the company is working to address the concerns raised by the authorities. He expressed optimism that the issue would be settled soon and operations would resume shortly. The incident has triggered widespread debate on social media, with many users discussing tax compliance, business transparency, and the growing crackdown on financial irregularities in the food and beverage sector.
