‘Kidney in Woman’s Handbag’: Midnight Raid in Kasur Exposes Illegal Organ Transplant Network

A disturbing case has surfaced in Kasur, where a late-night raid on a private hospital uncovered what authorities suspect to be an illegal organ transplant operation. The incident has raised serious concerns over the misuse of medical facilities and possible violations of Pakistan’s strict organ transplant regulations.

According to officials, law enforcement agencies, accompanied by health department representatives and the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA), conducted the operation after receiving information about unauthorized transplant activities. During the raid, investigators reportedly recovered a human kidney from a woman’s handbag, while also finding a female patient in critical condition inside the hospital.

Initial reports suggest that a medical team from Lahore may have carried out the transplant procedure without legal approval. Authorities believe the team allegedly attempted to remove the transplanted organ after the patient developed complications, in what appears to be an effort to conceal evidence.

Police have arrested several individuals linked to the case, while a number of suspects managed to escape and are currently being traced. Investigators are now examining the hospital’s records, the medical staff involved, and the broader network that may have facilitated the illegal trade.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of unregulated organ trafficking and the importance of strict enforcement of Pakistan’s transplant laws, which clearly ban the commercial sale and purchase of human organs. Officials say the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected as the case unfolds.
