Trump Says US Will Use Frozen Iranian Funds to Buy American Crops for Iranians
US President Donald Trump has said that Washington will use some of Iran’s frozen financial assets to purchase American agricultural products, including soybeans, corn, and wheat, for the Iranian people. He described the plan as both a humanitarian initiative and a new export opportunity for American farmers, saying the purchasing process would begin soon.
The proposal comes as the United States and Iran continue negotiations over a broader diplomatic agreement. According to the Trump administration, the funds would remain under US-controlled escrow and be used only for approved humanitarian purchases. However, Iranian officials have disputed Washington’s description of the arrangement, insisting that Iran alone will decide how any unfrozen assets are spent.
