Rawalpindi and Islamabad continue to endure intense summer conditions, with temperatures soaring to around 41°C and high humidity making the weather feel even hotter and more uncomfortable.
The combination of extreme heat and moisture has created challenging conditions for residents, particularly during the afternoon hours when the heat index reaches its highest levels.
According to weather forecasts, there is little chance of significant relief over the next two days, with hot and humid conditions expected to persist across both cities.
Health experts have warned that prolonged exposure to the heat could increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke, especially among children, the elderly, outdoor workers, and people with existing health conditions.
The ongoing heatwave has also worsened water supply issues in several parts of Rawalpindi. Many neighborhoods are reportedly facing severe water shortages, forcing residents to rely on costly private water tankers to meet their daily needs.
Authorities have attributed the situation to a sharp rise in water consumption during the summer season, coupled with reduced water availability from Khanpur Dam, one of the city’s key water sources.
Officials have advised residents to take necessary precautions by staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, wearing light-colored clothing, and checking on vulnerable family members and neighbors. Citizens are also being encouraged to use water responsibly as authorities continue efforts to manage supply and address the ongoing shortage.
