An FIR has been registered following the tragic roof collapse at a tuition centre in Lahore’s Kahna area, where 14 children lost their lives in one of the city’s deadliest building accidents involving an educational facility.
Police have launched a formal investigation into the incident and have taken five individuals into custody, including the owner of the building, as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the collapse.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident is believed to have resulted from alleged negligence, with repair and construction work reportedly being carried out on the upper portion of the building while classes were in session beneath a structurally weak roof.
The sudden collapse left several students and a teacher injured, many of whom were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Rescue teams responded quickly, removing debris and assisting those trapped inside the building.
Authorities have stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible for violating safety regulations or endangering lives.
The heartbreaking tragedy has also reignited concerns over the condition of private educational facilities, building safety standards, and the enforcement of construction regulations, prompting renewed calls for thorough inspections to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
