Selling Land in Margalla Hills Is Illegal Again

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has lifted a ban on buying, selling, registering, and transferring properties in several areas of Islamabad. These include Shah Allah Ditta, Sangjani, and Sarai Kharbooza. The court said the earlier restriction, imposed in December 2023, was not approved by the right authority, so it was invalid. Property deals can now continue under normal rules.

This decision brings relief to many property owners and buyers in these localities near the Margalla Hills. People can now legally handle their land and house transactions again. However, the court made it clear that this does not allow illegal activities.

The IHC stressed that government authorities still have full power to act against illegal housing schemes, unauthorized buildings, and wrong land use. Any development must follow all existing laws and environmental rules to protect the sensitive Margalla Hills area.

The Margalla Hills are an important natural zone that needs protection from unchecked construction. Past court cases have focused on stopping illegal restaurants and buildings in the national park to save green spaces and wildlife.

People should check all documents and rules before buying or selling land in these areas to avoid future problems.
