Pakistan has brought pride to the nation by securing three Bronze Medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026, held in Colombia.
The country’s medal winners included Zulfiqar Ali, Ali Hamdan Alvi, and Daniyal Shahzad Hamid, while Hazza Mahmood and Abdullah Ejaz received Honorable Mentions for their impressive performances against some of the world’s brightest young physicists.
The remarkable achievement follows a highly competitive national selection process and months of intensive preparation through the STEM Careers Program, jointly organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS).
The prestigious competition brought together more than 400 students from over 90 countries, providing a global platform for exceptional talent in physics.
Pakistan’s success at the International Physics Olympiad reflects the country’s growing progress in science education and the immense potential of its young minds.
It is also a testament to the dedication of the students, the guidance of their mentors, and the continuous efforts of educational institutions to promote excellence in STEM fields. Such achievements inspire future generations to pursue scientific innovation and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in international academic competitions.
