Now Faster Diagnosis with AI? Pakistan to Introduce AI Diagnostic System Across 1,100 Hospitals

Pakistan is taking a big step in healthcare by introducing an AI-powered diagnostic system in 1,100 public and private hospitals. The project is part of the Prime Minister’s Health Card Programme and aims to help nearly 200 million people get faster and better medical care.

The new system will use artificial intelligence to support doctors in detecting diseases early. It is especially useful for complex conditions like cancer and neurological disorders. AI can quickly analyse medical images, test results, and patient data, making diagnosis more accurate and reducing waiting times.

This initiative will ease the heavy load on hospitals and doctors. Many patients in rural areas currently face long delays for proper diagnosis. With AI, doctors will get helpful suggestions, leading to quicker treatment and better outcomes.

The government plans to sign an agreement with Alibaba Group soon to bring this advanced technology to Pakistan. The system will be rolled out across Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials say this is a major move toward digital health transformation. It shows Pakistan’s commitment to modernising medical services and using technology for public welfare.
