Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach All-Time High of $4.6 Billion

Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector has achieved a major milestone as the country’s IT and IT-enabled services exports reached a record $4.6 billion in the fiscal year 2025-26. This is the highest export figure recorded by the country’s technology industry.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), IT exports increased by around 20% compared to the previous year. The growth reflects the rising demand for Pakistani digital services in international markets and the growing skills of local technology professionals.

The record earnings came from different areas, including software development, IT consultancy, freelance services, call centres, and other digital solutions. Pakistani freelancers and technology companies have played an important role in bringing foreign revenue and expanding the country’s digital presence globally.

Although the sector could not achieve the government’s $5 billion export target, industry experts viewed the progress as a positive sign for future growth. They highlighted the importance of stable policies, improved internet services, advanced technology training, and better infrastructure to help the sector reach higher goals.

Pakistan has a large young workforce with strong technical skills, which gives the country an advantage in the global IT market. With continued investment and support, the IT sector can create more jobs, attract foreign investment, and contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy in the coming years.
