Islamabad, Lahore Ranked Safer Than London, Paris and New York in Numbeo Crime Index 2026

Islamabad and Lahore have secured positions among the world’s safer cities in the latest Numbeo Crime Index 2026 Mid-Year report. Islamabad recorded the lowest Crime Index score in Pakistan, making it the country’s highest-ranked city for perceived safety, while Lahore also performed strongly.

Both cities ranked ahead of several major international cities, including London, Paris, New York, and Toronto, in the survey’s safety assessment.

The Numbeo Crime Index is based on public perception surveys rather than official crime statistics. It reflects how residents and visitors feel about safety in their cities by measuring concerns related to theft, robbery, assault, violent crime, property crime, vandalism, and corruption, as well as how safe people feel walking alone during the day and at night.

The latest rankings indicate that respondents generally perceive Islamabad and Lahore as comparatively safer urban centers.

While the report does not measure actual crime rates, it provides valuable insight into public confidence in safety and security, placing both Pakistani cities among the better-performing locations in this global perception-based assessment.
