Pakistan is set to establish its first Agriculture and Food Museum at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), creating a space to preserve the country’s long farming history and show how agriculture has changed over time. UAF confirmed the project as part of efforts to protect Pakistan’s agricultural heritage and connect it with modern farming.
The museum will present the journey from traditional farming methods to modern agricultural technology. Exhibits are planned to include traditional farming tools, local seed varieties, greenhouse systems, crop breeding, and modern farming technologies. The project will help students, researchers, farmers, and the general public learn about Pakistan’s agricultural development.
The museum will also highlight UAF’s own history. The university began in 1906 as the Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute in Lyallpur. It later developed into the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and became an important centre for agricultural education and research in the country.
The planned museum is expected to include a large indoor exhibition area, with additional outdoor space and interactive displays. Earlier project plans also included more than 30 indoor galleries and a Hall of Fame.
The project is expected to receive Rs. 300 million in phased funding through the Punjab Higher Education Commission. Once completed, the museum could become an important educational and cultural centre, helping future generations understand Pakistan’s farming roots while learning about modern and sustainable agriculture.
