Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the Joint Defence Agreement signed by Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is aimed at improving security and defence cooperation among the three countries.
Erdogan explained that the agreement will focus on strengthening defence ties, developing joint projects in the defence industry and increasing cooperation in the fight against terrorism. He said the partnership is designed to help the three countries work more closely to address common security challenges and support regional stability.
The Turkish president made it clear that the agreement is not directed against any particular country. He said the pact is open to other friendly nations that share the goal of promoting peace, prosperity and stability in the region.
Erdogan also said that the agreement supports the right of countries to defend themselves, in line with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The article recognizes the right of states to take action in self-defence when facing an armed attack.
He further highlighted Türkiye’s position on regional conflicts, saying that disputes should be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful means. According to Erdogan, efforts to address conflicts must remain within the framework of international law.
The agreement reflects growing cooperation between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on defence and security matters.
The three countries are seeking closer coordination while supporting peace and stability in the region. Erdogan’s remarks also underline their intention to strengthen cooperation without creating a military alliance aimed at any specific country.
