Maryam Nawaz Orders Punjab Workers’ Salaries Paid by 5th of Every Month

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered that all workers under the Suthra Punjab programme receive their salaries by the 5th of every month. Companies handling payments must submit monthly reports to confirm the salaries are paid on time.

The Suthra Punjab programme is the provincial government’s main effort to keep cities and towns clean. It employs tens of thousands of sanitation workers who collect waste, sweep roads and maintain public spaces. Past delays in payments had caused hardship for these workers. The new order aims to end those problems and give them regular, reliable income.

Maryam Nawaz also set a zero-tolerance policy for workers who do not perform their duties properly. She asked officials to create clear performance standards and regular checks. This will help improve the quality of the cleanliness work.

In addition, she gave fresh instructions to strengthen daily operations. Major roads must be washed and cleaned starting at 5 a.m. Door-to-door waste collection should continue without gaps. Special attention is needed in vegetable and fruit markets, around schools, colleges, universities and hospitals. Vacant plots and commercial areas must also stay free of garbage.
