Newly Transformed Raja Bazaar Flooded After Heavy Rain Hits Rawalpindi

Heavy monsoon rains submerged parts of Rawalpindi’s newly revamped Raja Bazaar, raising fresh concerns over drainage and water management at the recently developed commercial hub.

The newly introduced pedestrian area was also affected by severe waterlogging, with rainwater accumulating across several sections and disrupting movement in the busy commercial zone. The situation has once again drawn attention to the city’s drainage capacity during periods of intense rainfall.

Meanwhile, authorities continued to monitor rising water levels in Nullah Lai and deployed drainage and emergency teams to vulnerable locations. Officials remained on alert as heavy rains increased the risk of further urban flooding in low-lying areas.

The latest waterlogging has also sparked questions about whether the newly completed development can effectively handle heavy monsoon downpours, particularly as Rawalpindi continues to face recurring drainage challenges during the rainy season.
