Bangladesh have moved above Pakistan in the latest ICC Test team rankings after their historic series in Australia. The Tigers climbed to sixth place, their highest ranking since becoming a Test-playing nation, while Pakistan dropped to eighth.
Bangladesh made history in the first Test in Darwin by defeating Australia by nine wickets. It was their first Test win on Australian soil. Australia responded strongly in the second Test in Mackay, winning by an innings and 51 runs to level the series 1-1.
Despite the heavy defeat, Bangladesh’s earlier win was enough to give them a major boost in the rankings. Their rise also came after they had already beaten Pakistan 2-0 in their May Test series.
