Made in Pakistan! Local Manufacturing Now Meets 97% of Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Demand

Pakistan’s local mobile phone manufacturing sector recorded a sharp rise in July 2026, with domestic factories producing or assembling 3.90 million handsets. This was 9% higher than July 2025 and 102% higher than the 1.93 million units produced in June.

At the same time, mobile phone imports dropped to only 0.11 million units in July, down 35% year-on-year and 83% from the previous month. As a result, locally made and assembled phones met 97% of Pakistan’s mobile phone demand during the month, compared with 75% in May.

However, the wider picture remains mixed. During the first seven months of 2026, local production stood at 17 million units, 5% below the 17.83 million units recorded in the same period last year. Local manufacturing covered 86% of demand during these seven months.

The government is also working to expand the sector through its Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2026-33, which aims to increase local manufacturing, create jobs, attract investment and support exports.
