Karachi’s water supply is expected to receive a significant boost as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) have signed an agreement to construct a dedicated water pipeline from Dumlottee.
The Rs. 14.2 billion project is planned to supply an additional 10 million gallons of water per day to DHA and Clifton, two areas that have faced persistent water supply challenges and heavy dependence on tanker services.
According to the project plan, construction is expected to begin next week, with authorities targeting completion within one year.
The revised project cost takes into account changes in design and construction materials, taxes, inflation, filtration facilities, and upgraded monitoring systems.
Officials expect the project to improve the availability and reliability of water in the targeted areas while reducing pressure on existing supply systems.
It is also expected to help residents rely less on privately supplied water tankers, which have become an important but costly source of water for many households.
The initiative is being viewed as a long-term step toward strengthening Karachi’s water infrastructure and addressing shortages through improved supply capacity and better monitoring.
If completed as planned, the project could provide much-needed relief to residents of DHA and Clifton while contributing to a more stable and dependable water supply system in Karachi.
