Pakistan’s imports of new and used cars reached around Rs22.5 billion in the first two months of the 2026-27 fiscal year. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data shows that motor car imports were worth $81.4 million, which is around Rs. 22.5 billion, during July and August 2026.

The increase comes as several new companies import vehicles before starting local assembly. Chinese companies are also bringing around 1,500 to 2,000 new energy vehicles into Pakistan each month, adding to the number of completely built units entering the market.
Used car imports have also continued despite the government ending the baggage scheme in January and introducing stricter checks for vehicles brought through other schemes. Around 3,200 used vehicles were imported during July and August combined.
The rising imports have raised concerns among local auto-parts manufacturers, who say imported vehicles can reduce demand for locally produced parts and affect employment in the vendor industry.
