Pakistan Customs Seizes Phones Worth Rs. 6 Million from Passenger at Karachi Airport

Pakistan Customs officials at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi have seized mobile phones, electronic devices and other goods valued at around Rs. 6 million from a passenger arriving from the United States.

According to customs officials, the items were discovered during routine X-ray screening of the passenger’s baggage. The scan reportedly raised suspicion, prompting officials to carry out a detailed physical inspection.

During the subsequent search, customs personnel recovered six high-end mobile phones along with smartwatches and other electronic devices. Additional items were also found inside the baggage, including sunglasses, women’s handbags, cosmetics and multivitamin medicines.

The recovered goods were taken into custody by the customs authorities following the inspection. Officials have initiated further legal proceedings in connection with the seizure and are examining the circumstances surrounding the attempted transportation of the items.

The incident highlights the role of baggage screening at international airports in identifying undeclared or concealed goods. X-ray scanning is routinely used by customs authorities to examine luggage and identify items that may require further inspection.

The passenger had arrived in Karachi from the United States when the baggage was screened at Jinnah International Airport. Following the recovery, the seized items were formally taken into customs custody.
