CM Maryam Nawaz Calls 15 Police Helpline to Test Emergency Response Time

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reportedly contacted the police emergency helpline 15 to check how the service handles emergency calls and responds to citizens seeking assistance.

During the call, she asked the operator to identify her location and provide information about the nature of the emergency. She also inquired about the number and types of calls received through the helpline.

The interaction was aimed at assessing the functioning of the emergency response system and the way operators communicate with callers. The move has drawn attention to the importance of quick response times when citizens contact emergency services.

Punjab’s Emergency Helpline 15 operates as a key public safety service, with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority handling emergency calls and coordinating responses. The service has also been expanded with additional facilities, including first-aid guidance for callers facing medical emergencies.

The test call comes as Punjab continues to expand technology-based policing and public safety services. The province has recently introduced mobile police stations, with their deployment also linked to crime data and calls received through the 15 helpline.

The chief minister’s interaction with the helpline highlights the importance of efficient call handling, accurate information gathering and timely assistance during emergencies. Effective communication at the initial stage can help authorities understand the situation and coordinate an appropriate response.
