Afghanistan’s acting Minister for Borders and Tribal Affairs, Noorullah Noori, has issued a strong warning to Pakistan amid rising tensions between the two countries. He claimed that if the Taliban government decided to act, the Afghan flag could be raised in Peshawar within two days.
Noori made the remarks at a gathering in Kabul, addressing Pakistan’s military and intelligence leadership. He urged Pakistan to consider Afghanistan’s history and experience before taking further action. He also referred to the Soviet Union and the United States, saying military strength had not allowed them to control Afghanistan.
His comments came after a fresh escalation along the Pakistan Afghanistan border. Pakistan has said it carried out strikes on militant targets in Afghanistan, while Afghan authorities have disputed Pakistan’s claims and reported civilian casualties. Both sides have also exchanged accusations over militant activity and attacks.
Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lies close to the Afghan border and remains an important security and political centre. Noori’s statement adds to increasingly tense rhetoric between Kabul and Islamabad.
