Snowfall has eased in Naran after three days of cold weather, but drivers remain stranded at Babusar Top as heavy snow continues to block the route.
According to reports on October 17, 2026, Babusar Pass has remained closed to traffic for four consecutive days because of heavy snowfall. Three oil tankers are among the vehicles stuck on the road, leaving drivers exposed to freezing temperatures.
The snowfall has also affected other areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, while temperatures have fallen below zero at higher elevations. The Babusar-Naran Highway was closed to prevent accidents caused by snow-covered roads and dangerous driving conditions.
Diamer police have rescued tourists who were stranded in the snow, according to local authorities. Meanwhile, drivers stuck along the route have appealed to the government for help.
Authorities have advised travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys and check road conditions before travelling to northern areas.
