Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is facing early concerns after several owners reported cracked screens around the hinge just one day after its global launch on October 23, 2026.
According to reports published by MacRumors and The Verge, users have shared pictures and videos of damaged devices on Reddit and online forums. The reported damage appears near the folding area of the inner display, with some phones showing bright lines across the screen.
One customer in Australia claimed that the screen broke after fewer than 20 openings. The user said they heard a cracking sound while opening the phone and noticed no visible external damage beforehand. An Apple Store reportedly replaced the device.
Other images from China have also shown similar damage, raising questions about the durability of Apple’s first foldable phone. However, the cause of these failures remains unclear, and there is no confirmed evidence of a widespread manufacturing defect.
Apple has promoted the iPhone Duo’s titanium frame and specially designed hinge as key durability features. The company has yet to publicly address these specific reports.
