Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2008 Ballon d’Or-winning season with Manchester United has finished ahead of Lionel Messi’s 2012 campaign in the inaugural fan vote for the Ballon d’Or of All Time, according to Pubity.
Fans put Ronaldo’s United season first
The vote asked fans to choose the greatest Ballon d’Or-winning season. Ronaldo’s 2008 campaign secured the leading position, with Messi’s 2012 season taking second place.
The result was presented as the first Ballon d’Or of All Time award, decided by supporters.
Two rivals take the entire top 10
Ronaldo and Messi’s dominance extended beyond the first two positions. Every one of Ronaldo’s five Ballon d’Or-winning seasons appeared in the top 10, with Messi’s campaigns occupying the remaining places.
- First place: Ronaldo’s 2008 season with Manchester United.
- Second place: Messi’s 2012 campaign.
- Top 10: five Ronaldo seasons and five Messi seasons.
Pubity said eight other nominated players failed to reach the top 10, leaving the final list entirely to the two rivals.
