Jadu has launched an innovative online programme with the mission of providing a new way for the tech-savvy young people of Pakistan to learn and work.
According to the Future of Jobs 2020 Report, by 2025, the World Economic Forum predicts that a total of 95 million work roles will arise in technology and Jadu aims to build a talent pipeline for these opportunities through its programme. The “Full Stack Developer Fellowship” is the first track of the programme. The programme is an immense, hands-on, online programme taught by tech industry leaders aimed at imparting technological and soft skills to individuals and assisting them in remote work placement.
Pakistan has recently experienced an increase in educated youth unemployment, especially due to a discrepancy between the education given by institutions and the industry’s skills requirements. By reducing job opportunities across the country, the Covid-19 pandemic has further worsened the situation.
The situation calls for revolutionary steps to develop and instill young people’s skills and knowledge and to connect them to organizations around the world in order to find remote jobs. The four-month remote work fellowship focuses not only on the development of technical skills, but also on the development of interpersonal skills required for remote work.
Combined with practical assignments, the intensive coursework of the programme will provide students with practical experience and train them to become a trusted developer. To improve employability, the programme is carefully devised and evaluated by industry experts. And to ensure that the necessary skills required to bridge the widening gap in education and business requirements are taught. The program’s global community network with mentors from tech companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc. will allow students to establish lifelong relationships with leaders of the industry and create their own professional network.
The “income sharing agreement” mechanism modelled after online schools such as Lambda School and Microverse is the unique part of the software. The students will be able to participate in the programme at no expense at all via this model and will be able to pay back after they have received a job offer to work remotely.
The active involvement of young people in the programme would allow them to establish a new career path by working remotely for foreign companies without leaving Pakistan. By keeping some of its best talent, this will help minimize unemployment and save the nation from brain drain.
