CEO Muhammad Afsar Khan’s engagement with KTDA leadership and key Kenyan tea partners reflects a continued focus on quality sourcing, market understanding and long-term cooperation.
Islamabad Tea Company is building stronger engagement with Kenya’s tea industry as part of its continued focus on quality sourcing, international partnerships and long-term supply relationships.
During his visit to Kenya, Muhammad Afsar Khan, CEO of Islamabad Tea Company, engaged with senior leadership of the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) on the sidelines of the 7th African Tea Conference and Exhibition. The discussions focused on Pakistan’s tea market, sourcing requirements, quality and opportunities for closer cooperation between Pakistani buyers and Kenya’s tea sector.
The discussions included KTDA Chairman Enos Njeru and Group CEO Eng. Francis Miano, alongside senior representatives from the Kenyan tea trade.
Pakistan remains an important destination for Kenyan tea, making direct engagement between buyers and origin-market partners increasingly significant. KTDA itself highlighted its discussions with Islamabad Tea Company, describing the company as an established participant in Pakistan’s tea market and noting the importance of Pakistan for Kenyan tea producers. KTDA’s network supports more than 650,000 smallholder tea farmers.
Beyond the conference, Khan’s visit included engagements with industry and trading partners, including ABGT, L.A.B. International, Chai Trading Company and Finlays. These engagements provided opportunities to exchange market insights and strengthen relationships across the tea value chain, from sourcing and quality control to trade relationships and long-term supply consistency.
For Pakistan’s tea industry, direct engagement with origin markets is increasingly important. Stronger relationships with producers and trading partners can help companies better understand crop conditions, quality profiles, international market movements and sourcing opportunities.
The Kenya visit also reflects Islamabad Tea Company’s broader emphasis on building international relationships while maintaining a clear focus on the Pakistani consumer. Rather than treating tea procurement purely as a transaction, the company’s approach is increasingly centred on quality, consistency, market understanding and long-term partnerships.
For Islamabad Tea Company, the engagement represents another step towards deeper participation in the international tea ecosystem, connecting Pakistan’s consumer market with one of the world’s important tea-producing origins. Continued business-to-business engagement can create opportunities for closer cooperation between Pakistani buyers and Kenyan tea-sector partners.
