As part of the COP26 global climate change summit this week, the UK offered more than £55 million in funding to assist Pakistan in combating climate change. This is a critical time for Pakistan as world leaders gather for COP26.
It has been listed as the eighth most vulnerable country to climate change, with rising temperatures implying that by 2100, 36 percent of the glaciers along the Hindu Kush and Himalayan ranges will have vanished.
The UK has already made significant progress, with net-zero ambitions now covering 90% of the global economy, up from less than 30% when the UK assumed the COP26 leadership. This will benefit the world’s most vulnerable nations, such as Pakistan.
