Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken a significant step forward in modern healthcare by introducing one of the world’s most advanced laser eye treatment technologies, the SMILE Pro Laser Vision Correction System, at the Frontier Institute of Ophthalmology (FIO) in Peshawar.
The state-of-the-art facility was officially inaugurated by Provincial Health Minister Mian Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, who described the launch as a milestone in the province’s efforts to improve access to cutting-edge medical services.
He emphasized that the introduction of this advanced technology will enable patients to receive world-class vision correction treatment closer to home, reducing the need to travel to other cities or countries for specialized eye care.
The SMILE Pro system is designed to offer highly precise, minimally invasive laser vision correction with faster recovery times, improved patient comfort, and enhanced clinical outcomes.
Its arrival at FIO is expected to strengthen the province’s ophthalmology services while expanding treatment options for individuals suffering from refractive vision problems.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government reiterated its commitment to investing in innovative and affordable healthcare solutions, stating that the adoption of advanced medical technologies remains a key priority.
Officials also highlighted their continued support for institutions that deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to raising healthcare standards across the province.
