The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) began legal processes on Monday to auction former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s properties in order to recover an £8 million punishment imposed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) courts in several instances.
Agricultural lands in the name of the PML-N supremo in Jati Umrah, Lahore, will be auctioned on November 19, according to sources.
Notices from the Board of Revenue (BoR) have been posted on the walls of Jati Umrah’s home.
The tax department has also asked the NAB’s office-bearers in Lahore and Rawalpindi to join in the process.
In June, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed as unmaintainable the petitions to block the auction of former Prime Minister Sharif’s properties in the Toshakhana (gift depository) case.
