PTCL and Ufone granted Rs. 11.5 billion rapid web projects for top tourist locations in Pakistan

The USF (Universal Service Fund) Board has approved ten projects worth roughly PKR 11.5 billion to give rapid web access and optical fibre projects to top tourist location regions like Kumrat Valley and Swat, including 19 un-served and under-served areas of Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab regions, to work with around 4.4 million individuals.

The USF Board approved the award of high-speed mobile broadband contracts to Jazz, Ufone, and Telenor, as well as the optical fibre cable projects contract to PTCL, on the advice of the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque.

Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications and Chairman of the USF Board, presided over the organization’s 80th Board of Directors meeting.

At the meeting, Member Telecom, Chairman PTA, Major General ® Amir Azeem Bajwa, VP for Government Sales-Super Net Pvt Ltd, Imran Akhtar Shah, Chairman-Consumer Association of Pakistan, Kaukab Iqbal, and other officials were present at the meeting.

Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, Federal Secretary for Information Technology and Telecommunications and Chairman of the USF Board, said during the meeting, “USF was created 15 years ago, but the pace of project completion was relatively slow in the first 12 years.”
