Islam is currently one of the world’s most popular religions, and research and survey data predict that our religion will overtake Christianity as the most popular and followed religion in the next 53 years.
According to study conducted by the Pew Research Center (PRC) in Washington, DC, Islam will overtake Christianity as the world’s most common religion by 2070, and their research also forecasts that Europe and the United States of America (USA) would have’more’ Muslims in the following 53 years.
The research also reveals that followers of the religion Islam, commonly referred to as Muslims, are the world’s fastest-growing religious group, with over 1.6 billion people – or roughly 23% of the global population – almost seven years ago in 2010, and the numbers have been steadily rising since then.
In terms of Christianity, there are about 2.2 billion Christians on the planet, accounting for 31% of the population, but according to this PRC study on Islam, Islam will overtake Christianity as the world’s most followed, believed, and practised religion in the next 50 to 53 years, by 2070.
