Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Information Minister, has stated that the country is on the “correct track” and that the economy will be “much better” by August 2022.
In an interview with reporters in Lahore, Chaudhry said that a phase in Pakistan has begun in which social protection programmes will take effect, clearing the way for the country’s overall economic situation to improve.
He stated that the PTI-led government must repay $55 billion in debt payments over the next two years, noting that $32 billion had already been paid under loans in the previous three years.
“We are paying the price for Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif’s legacy,” the minister remarked, referring to the PPP and PML-N’s two regimes.
